Programme Structure
Module 01
Disability Studies in Education
Critically evaluates historical and current discourses on disability and special educational needs, exploring the interrelationships between education policy, political frameworks, and inclusive practice.
Module 02
Exploring Inclusive Pedagogy
Critically examines the concepts of inclusion in education and how SEND is positioned within different establishments. Covers partnership with families, multiagency collaboration, and personalising learning.
Module 03
Exploring Research: Informing and Changing Practice
Supports students to become agents of change within their workplace, developing practitioner research skills to identify barriers to inclusion and implement tailored educational strategies.
Module 04
Autism Education: Theory and Practice
Explores current understanding about the nature of autism and the spectrum of associated disorders, critically evaluating how this has been applied to educational provision and practices.
Module 05
Dissertation
An original research project integrating prior learning from the programme, applying analytical and conceptual tools to an in-depth investigation of a specific SEND research question.

Academic requirements
Meet any ONE of the following:
Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university
Graduate Diploma or Diploma qualification plus a minimum of 8 years' relevant work experience
Candidates aged 30 or above with a minimum of 8 years' work experience (assessed case-by-case)
English language requirements
Meet any ONE of the following:
GCE O Level English (C6 and above)
IELTS 5.5 or above
Aventis English Proficiency Test (EPT) — for applicants who do not meet the above requirements
