What Will You Learn?

This programme develops the skills and insight needed to lead in cyber security and AI-driven environments. You will gain expertise in managing digital risks, designing secure systems, and responding to evolving cyber threats, while understanding the strategic, ethical, and organisational considerations that underpin effective cyber security practice in today’s connected world.

AI for Data-Driven Decision Intelligence

This module provides students with an advanced understanding of how artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics can be applied to support evidence-based decision-making in organisational, business, and technological contexts. Students will examine techniques for collecting, preparing, analysing, and interpreting data to generate actionable insights. The curriculum explores predictive modelling, decision intelligence frameworks, data visualisation, and AI-supported decision systems, with emphasis on practical application, strategic decision support, and clear communication of insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Network & Cloud Security with AI Applications

This module develops students’ understanding of network security, cloud security, and the application of artificial intelligence to strengthen modern digital infrastructure. Students will examine network architectures, cloud service models, identity and access management, encryption, monitoring, intrusion detection, and security controls across cloud and hybrid environments. The curriculum also explores how AI can automate threat detection, identify anomalies, support predictive security, and improve cyber defence capabilities.

Cryptography, Blockchain, and Secure Systems

This module introduces students to the principles and applications of cryptography, blockchain technologies, and secure system design. Students will examine symmetric and asymmetric encryption, hashing, digital signatures, key management, authentication mechanisms, blockchain architecture, consensus mechanisms, smart contracts, distributed ledgers, and their implications for secure digital transactions and decentralised systems. The module emphasises critical evaluation of strengths, limitations, vulnerabilities and governance issues in real-world contexts.

AI for Threat Intelligence and Malware Analysis

This module examines how artificial intelligence can be applied to cyber threat intelligence, malware analysis, and proactive cyber defence. Students will explore contemporary cyber threats, attack vectors, malware behaviours, and threat intelligence frameworks. The curriculum introduces machine learning and analytical techniques used to classify malware, detect anomalies, identify malicious patterns, and support incident response, while also considering false positives, adversarial attacks, explainability, ethics and operational risk.

Capstone Project

This capstone module provides students with the opportunity to undertake a substantial independent project that integrates knowledge and skills developed across the Bachelor of Science programme. Students will identify a relevant real-world, workplace, industry-informed or professionally situated problem; engage with relevant stakeholder, user, employer, practitioner or industry evidence; conduct an appropriate academic and professional literature or contextual review; design and implement a solution or investigation; and evaluate its effectiveness. Depending on the pathway, the project may focus on cyber security, computing, artificial intelligence, data science, intelligent systems, secure systems or human-centred technology. The module emphasises independent learning, technical depth, critical thinking, innovation, responsible practice, industry relevance and professional communication.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Top-Up Bachelor's degree?

A top-up degree is designed for individuals who already hold a relevant diploma, higher diploma or equivalent qualification and wish to complete a Bachelor’s (Honours) degree. It allows you to build on your existing knowledge without starting a degree programme from the beginning.

What is the difference between a Bachelor's degree and a Top-Up Bachelor's degree?

Both qualifications lead to a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree. The key difference is the starting point.

A traditional Bachelor’s degree typically takes three to four years to complete from the beginning.

A Top-Up Bachelor’s degree is designed for learners who already hold a relevant diploma or equivalent qualification. Instead of repeating earlier years of study, they enter directly into the final year (Level 6) and complete the remaining modules required for the Bachelor’s (Hons) award.

Who is eligible to apply for this programme?

Applicants should normally possess either:

  • An Aventis Professional Diploma in AI and Computing; or
  • A relevant polytechnic diploma or equivalent qualification in computing, information technology, data science, cyber security, engineering, business analytics or a related discipline.

Applicants with relevant professional certifications, industry experience or other equivalent qualifications may also be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to review and approval by the University.

What qualification will I receive?

Upon successfully completing all required modules, students will be awarded the:

Bachelor of Science (Hons) Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence – Final-Year Top-Up

The award is subject to the University of Chichester’s academic regulations and confirmation by the relevant assessment board.

Is there a maximum age limit to apply for a Top-Up Bachelor's Degree?

There is no maximum age limit for applying to a Top-Up Bachelor’s degree. Applicants of all ages are welcome, provided they meet the programme’s academic and admission requirements.

Top-Up Bachelor’s programmes are designed for individuals who already hold a relevant diploma or equivalent qualification and wish to complete a Bachelor’s (Hons) degree. Many students are working professionals looking to enhance their qualifications, advance their careers or prepare for postgraduate study. Whether you are returning to education after a few years or continuing your academic journey, age should not be a barrier to achieving your educational goals.

What should I look for when choosing a Top-Up Bachelor's degree?

When comparing Top-Up Bachelor’s programmes, consider:

  • Whether the programme is awarded by a recognised university.
Whether your current qualification meets the entry requirements.
  • The relevance of the curriculum to your career goals.
  • The flexibility of the study schedule if you’re working.
  • The opportunities for further study, such as progressing to a Master’s degree after graduation.

Choosing a programme that aligns with both your academic background and long-term professional aspirations will help you maximise the value of your qualification.

What are the available instalment payment schemes?

At Aventis, we offer flexible and affordable instalment payment schemes for our MBA, Master’s and Top-Up degrees. Instead of paying the full tuition upfront, fees can be spread over four instalments throughout the duration of the programme. Additionally, you may apply for an educational loan through our banking partners to repay monthly.
