Introduction

The program is designed for working professionals; aims to improve professional standards by deepening students’ understanding of the history and motivators of terrorism, and thereby developing their ability to critique current (and anticipate future) terrorist threats and possible counter terrorist measures.

Students will also acquire practical knowledge in security risk, security technology and lost prevention knowledge.

Student profiles include (but not extensively): Aviation Screening Officer, Casino Security Officer, Immigrations & Checkpoint Specialist, Police Officer, Research Analyst, Operations Manager.

Program Overview

The course involves a general background of the discipline and looks at the influence of psychology in modern society. Students will come away from this course with a well-grounded understanding of the discipline as well as improved analytical and critical thinking.

Student profiles include (but not extensively): HR Director, Marketing Director, Talent Acquisition Specialist, Patient Service Associate, Special Education Teacher, Nurse Clinician.

This program is 100% assignment based, it encourage the application of theory to practice, with the aim of having students articulating ways in which their learning can be applied to their own professional practice.

-Understand the drivers towards terrorism

-Have a reasonable understanding of the various legislations in the UK and USA in combating the current terrorist threat

-To provide tools to understand ourselves and social relationships

-To be familiar with key concepts of criminology and psychology

-To understand fraud/ loss risk framework

-To understand importance of corporate policies and training

-To understand the key components in measuring risk in security

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline

or a Diploma holder with minimum of 5 years working experience

Mature Candidate above 30 years old with over 8 years working experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
